A 91-year-old concealed pistol license holder shot a man who was attempting to rob him Monday in Eastpointe, according to police.

The victim was exiting his car around 10:15 a.m. and heading into the Rite Aid on Gratiot near Nine Mile when an unknown suspect in his late 20s approached, Sgt. Martin Campbell said.

“He attempted to rob (the victim) and (the victim) had a CPL and ended up shooting the suspect,” Campbell said. “It’s as simple as that.”

The would-be robber was struck in the neck and fled across Gratiot, where he was arrested by responding officers.

“Two detectives found him walking over there,” Campbell said. “He had a gunshot wound to the neck but he was talking and acting erratic.”

The erratic behavior initially prompted alarm bells for his intended target, Campbell said.

“The suspect approached and began to act erratic. (The victim) told him he had a gun, he warned him three or four times and even had the gun pointed at him,” Campbell said. “But the suspect kept coming and pointed an unknown object at the victim.”

GLENDALE, AZ. - Carolann Miracle is 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 85 pounds. She’s a petite woman who seems like an easy target, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. 

“I was scared, at first. I thought, ‘Am I really getting robbed?’” Miracle told ABC15.

Miracle said she was leaving the Circle K near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road with her family early Monday morning when the suspect, Frank Taylor , tried to bum a cigarette. She told him that she didn’t have one, and then seconds later, Miracle said, she could feel the barrel of the gun against her skin.

“He put the gun up to my neck and said, ‘It’s loaded, don’t move,’” Miracle said. ”I think he thought, ‘She’s a little girl. Maybe she doesn’t know how to use her weapon.’”

Miracle said, “I dropped my soda, released my gun from my holster and cocked it. I shot him and ran in the opposite direction."

BOYNTON BEACH (CBS12) — A Boynton Beach grandmother was home alone when three burglars entered her house.
But what she did next may surprise you.
"It was really scary. It was a very, very scary situation. 'Cause I had no idea what they were gonna do," said the woman, whom we agreed not to identify.
About 12:45 Tuesday afternoon she went to the peephole and saw a man was at her front door, banging on the door, ringing the bell.
He left but came back a few minutes later, with a T-shirt over his head, and putting on gloves, so she ran to the bedroom to get a handgun from the dresser beside her bed.
"I heard something, glass breaking and then I was freaking out," she recalled.
Three menthree burglars---- were in her living room, and she was in the bedroom standing just inside the doorway ready to shoot them if they entered.
"I decided that it's either them or me, you know. I had to save my life. One of them came to the door here and opened it and when he did I had the gun in his face," she said.

Gunfight in Wal-Mart: Augusta, ME

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Augusta Police say two bystanders, legally armed with handguns, stepped in during a shooting incident at a Walmart in Augusta.
Police say four suspects were taken into custody by police Sunday after allegedly firing gunshots in the parking lot of a Walmart. 

The suspects involved were sitting in vehicles parked next to each other when the altercation arose. The occupants of one vehicle fired at the occupants of the other, which resulted in return gunfire.

When the shooting stopped, police said one suspect exited their vehicle to confront the occupants of the other. This is when two bystanders, who were legally carrying, interfered and stopped the incident, police said.

SULTAN, Wash. (KOMO) - Four shots fired. Three hit the intruder.
It was one surreal moment, says Barb Moles.
"I was just intent upon stopping him. I didn't have any other thought in my head," says Moles. "I just knew I had to stop him."
Moles, 80, was home with her husband, John, and their adult son Thursday night when she says she heard a commotion. She walked into the kitchen and found her husband bleeding on the floor.
John, a retired Boeing worker, had been attacked with a knife and beaten with a crowbar, authorities said. He said three words to his wife: "I've been stabbed."
Barb, a grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of three, walked down the hall and into the master bedroom. She found her .38 caliber pistol -- a Christmas gift from John a few years prior.

TALLADEGA, Ala. - (WVTM/NBC) - An 11-year-old boy who shot a home intruder in Alabama said the would-be burglar “cried like a baby.”

The child, Chris Gaither, was home alone on Wednesday morning when he heard a noise and discovered someone had broken into his house.

"I told him I was going to kill him if he didn't get out of my house," said Chris.

He said even though he was scared, he grabbed a 9mm handgun.

"When he was coming down the stairs, that's when he told me he was going to kill me," said Chris.

ORLANDO, Fla. —

A man is claiming self-defense after another customer at a gas station pulled a gun out during an argument early Monday.

The incident happened at about 12:48 a.m. between Titus Bernard, 29, and Delvin Jamar Broner, 36, the Orlando Police Department said.

The altercation started as an argument between the two that was instigated by Broner, investigators said.

The situation escalated and Broner, a convicted felon, pulled out a gun.

Bernard, who had a valid concealed weapons permit, pulled his own gun and fired several times, killing Broner, police said.

"I don't know what I would have done is someone had pulled a gun out on me like that," said a witness. “He's alright then right? That's the law. Zimmerman pulled it off."

Bernard called 911 and waited for officers to arrive at the North John Young Parkway Circle-K.

Police reported finding Broner dead on the floor of the business.

Broner and Bernard were customers at the gas station, and no employees were involved, police said.

Witness statements corroborated Bernard’s version of the events, but the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, the department said.
