"The would-be robber was suffering from a lethal gunshot wound when police officers arrived at East Bay Firearms, located at 4049 First Street. Paramedics pronounced the 28-year-old man deceased at the scene.

"LPD said the man had entered the store just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday and acted “suspicious.” He was wearing a mask, gloves, and a hood pulled over his head. “According to witness statements, he then attempted to rob the gun store by taking a firearm while armed with a hammer,” police wrote."

"A pair of anglers spooked a grizzly bear when they stumbled upon it in the Montana wilderness, and it charged them, officials said.

"One of the anglers shot and killed the bear, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks said in a Sept. 1 news release."

"Police said the identity of the homeowner who fired the gunshot that killed Nicholas Donofrio shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday will not be released because the police department and the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office determined his actions were justified under the state's controversial "castle doctrine" law, which holds that people can act in self-defense towards "intruders and attackers without fear of prosecution or civil action for acting in defense of themselves and others."...

"While the woman was on the phone with police, Donofrio broke a glass window on the front door "and reached inside to manipulate the doorknob," at which point the male resident fired the shot through the broken window that struck Donofrio in his upper body, according to police."

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. (WOOD) — Newly-released surveillance video shows a Cass County gas station customer firing seven shots at a suspected armed robber, all while holding a six-pack of light beer.

The July 27 shooting at the Stone Lake Marathon Mini Mart seriously injured the suspect, who had armed himself with a box cutter....

“You know why I’m here” is how the robber announced himself that day, according to police reports.

The gas station surveillance video showed the customer holding a six-pack of Miller Lite as the suspect, dressed in black, walked in.

The suspect, identified in court records as Cordelius Anthony Martin, 35, of Dowagiac, pulled a mask over his face.

Another angle showed him approaching the store clerk.

Police said he threatened the clerk with a box cutter.

THREE POINTS, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) – A convicted sex offender was shot and killed by a woman while trying to break into her Arizona home last week, officials said.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said 42-year-old Jayson Magrum died in the Aug. 11 shooting at the home in Three Points, just outside of Tucson.

According to the sheriff’s department, Magrum was trying to break into a woman’s home. She told him to leave, but he did not stop.

Officials said the woman then grabbed a gun and fired a warning shot. Magrum then tried to disarm her, and he was shot and killed.

I did not realize Facebook will not allow copy of text.  Summary: couple returns home and finds burglar, 62, in their home barricaded in room.  The burglar shoots at them.  Husband and wife return fire.  Both shots hit him.  They disarm him and hold him for police.
